The governor of the Russian region of Arkhangelsk, Alexandr Tsibulski, reported this Monday about the discovery in that territory of a 340 carat diamond.
According to the official, quoted by the newspaper Protectiveit is one of the largest diamonds mined in Russia since the fall of the USSR.
The jewel was found in the site that bears the name of Vladimir Grib and where the company operates AGD Diamonds.

The dimensions of the gemstone are 50 x 39,4 x 24,8 mm.
The first examinations speak of the exceptionality of the diamond of great purity and transparency, the company indicated.
