In it Argentine poloa sport where excellence and tradition are centuries-old pillars, a paradox persisted: despite being played at more than 60 kilometers per hourwith inevitable falls and moving bodies next to half-ton horses, the zona cervical was still the most vulnerable and unprotected point . Faced with this void was born SPINEthe first cervical protector designed specifically for polo players, an Argentine innovation that combines science, design and engineering to raise the safety standard of this sport.

This project was created by Olivia DeAllpolo player and designer trained in University of Saint Andrew. The idea arose from an observation made by her father, a clinical doctor, who, when watching her play, wondered how it was possible that in such a demanding sport, no one protected their neck. That question resonated with Olivia, who turned it into a design challenge: finding a solution that united ergonomics and gaming dynamics.
From simple question to complex development
What began as a family concern turned into a Rigorous interdisciplinary development process which involved specialists in industrial design, biomedical engineering and medicine. The work was supervised by Dr. Juan Gottlieba renowned specialist in spinal pathologies, who accompanied the project from its conception to the final validation.
The tests were carried out in the Technological Institute of Buenos Aires (ITBA)low reference technical protocols used in motocrosswhich allowed resistance, stability and impact behavior to be tested. In parallel, they carried out functional tests on the field with players to evaluate comfort, fit and range of motion in real-world conditions.

The mind behind innovation: Olivia De All
Olivia DeAll represents a new generation of Argentine creators. A designer trained at the University of San Andrés and a polo player, she knew how to unite her two passions to create a product with purpose. “I learned to leave the ego outside and design for people, not for form,” he often says, adding: “I am challenged by projects that add value to people’s lives and the world.” .

In addition to polo, Olivia practices yoga, tennis and golf, and actively participates in “Cuerpo y Alma”, an organization that provides medical assistance in communities in northern Argentina. “That work reminds me that creativity can also be service,” says the creator.
An advance with an Argentine seal and global projection
The result of this extensive work is a anatomical, lightweight and adaptable protectorwhich integrates into the polo player’s team without interfering with his performance. SPINE is not just an object; represents a evolution in equipment culture of polo, an advance born in Argentina with international projection that demonstrates how science can enter the field to transform the history of a sport.
This development comes at a time when the Argentine polo is consolidated as the undisputed global benchmark, with the Triple Corona attracting the best players and teams in the world to the fields of Hurlingham, Tortugas and Palermo .
