In the last few hours, a video went viral on social networks showing the wing of a plane from an airline of Thailand with the loose screws. It had at least five and a half million views in three days.
A passenger on the flight filmed screws that appeared to be loose in the wing of a Boeing 737-800 of Thai Lion Air while the aircraft was flying over Thailand, and spread the material on social networks.
The passenger notified a flight attendant and the video went viral on Instagram, prompting public responses and the intervention of aeronautical authorities.
The images generated alarm among users and passengers because the discovery occurred during the flight. The passenger reported that he filmed the pieces and that he decided to share the video to record what he observed.
According to EVTV, Thai Lion Air published a statement after the dissemination of the material indicating that, despite the appearance of the images, flight safety was never compromised and that the issue constituted a minor problem that did not affect the structural integrity of the wing nor did it represent a risk to passengers, according to that message.

The recording reached the media and social networks and caused the Thai aeronautical authority to open an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the discovery and verify the technical condition of the aircraft.
Sources reported that authorities will review the Boeing 737-800’s maintenance record and pre-flight inspections to determine if there was a procedural failure or simply a misleading appearance in the video.
