He pointed out his murderer and died. That was the last gesture of Valtemir Machado.

Before fading into his wife’s arms, a 67-year-old man shot him in the chest while he was standing at the door of his house, in the small Brazilian town of Iraceminha.

The crime, which occurred on Saturday, was recorded by a security camera and caused commotion in Brazil after the Civil Police shared it and the local media reproduced it.

The suspect appeared at the police station on Monday accompanied by his lawyer. He was detained preventively while the investigation progresses.

The commissioner João Miotto, who is pursuing the case, confirmed that the accused confessed to having shot, but that he did so after being threatened by the victim following a fight that arose because a truck was blocking the exit of Machado’s car.

According to g1First, Machado and the owner of the vehicle hit each other, he left, then Machado looked for his neighbor –the shooter– and threatened him to tell him where to find the man.

«The victim said that he was going to look for him, that he was going to take revenge, that he was going to kill him, and he also threatened the aggressor, telling him that if he did not give him the information, he would also kill him. Then the neighbor armed himself and stayed inside his house, and then the victim returned to his house, and that is where the story of the video begins,» explains the police officer.

“The aggressor took a gun and, after being provoked with phrases like ‘shoot if you are a man’, he ended up firing the shot”detailed the police chief. Valtemir was unarmed and died shortly after in the hospital.

After seizing the attacker’s gun, the Scientific Police raided his house and found another gun in his name.

The perpetrator was released on bail and sent to regional prison, reported g1. Machado’s neighbor will be charged with aggravated homicide due to a trivial motive.

Two people with criminal records

Machado had been the target of two previous attacks by another family that led to the arrest of two brothers and a third escaped suspect.

At the same time, he had an extensive criminal record, which included homicide, attempted homicide, discharge of firearms, bodily injury, threats, property damage, resisting arrest, disobeying a lawful order and domestic violence.

On the other hand, the attacker had already been involved in another incident for disorderly conduct and use of a firearm.

«We previously executed a search warrant at his home, where weapons were seized, but then we returned. We also conducted searches at other neighbors’ homes. It is an area with a history of disagreements between residents,» Miotto stated.
