The City of Buenos Aires is preparing for a profound change in its transportation system with the launch of Trambusan innovative model that integrates a fleet of vehicles 100% electricadvanced technology and a total integration scheme with the subway network and railway branches.
The objective is clear: to offer greater speed, a lower cost for the passenger and fully sustainable mobility.
🔌 The T1 Trunk Line: From Pompeya to the Aeroparque
The initial line, called T1will be launched at end of 2026 and it will be a trunk corridor that will cross the city from south to north.
- Key Route: will unite New Pompeii with the Jorge Newbery Airport along 18 kilometers, benefiting about 50 thousand daily users.
- Time Savings: The transfer between Pompeya and Aeroparque, which currently takes about 100 minutes by bus, is estimated to be reduced to 65 minutesshortening travel times by up to 40%.
- 24 Hour Operation: The new service is designed to operate throughout the day.
🔄 Total Integration and Cutting-Edge Technology
One of the biggest innovations of the Trambus is the integrated billwhich will allow passengers to combine the bus and subway to get to Aeroparque without the need to pay twice.
The Trambus T1 network will connect with:
- Subway: Five subway lines (A, B, D, E y H).
- Trains: Stations of the Miter, San Martín and Sarmiento Railways.
- Metrobus: Direct connection with the Metrobus del Sur and Juan B. Justo.
In addition to exclusive lanes, technology is essential:
- Smart Traffic Lights: The vehicles will communicate digitally with the traffic signal to extend the green light, allowing the average speed of the Trambus to be higher than that of the current buses.
- Security: The units will incorporate advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS and DMS) with cameras and sensors to detect blind spots and incidents.
🏗️ Infrastructure and National Development
For its correct functioning, it will be built 71 stopsof which 11 will be iconic, with a renewed design that will include bike racks and chargers for electric cars.
The project also boosts the national industry: the self-supporting chassis and the body are in charge of Argentine companies (Agrale Argentina SA and TodoBus SA), ensuring the availability of spare parts and strengthening the local value chain.
