About Romina Art Hotel:
In the summer of 1972, a family of Spanish and Italian origin inaugurated the Hotel Romina in the city of Villa Gesell. The name was chosen in honor of his daughter, without imagining that half a century later she would be the one who would keep the essence of the place alive.
A pioneer in the southern area, the hotel was built alongside the historic Aquarium —property of Roberto Gesell, son of the founder of the city— and the old bus terminal (Avenida 3 and Paseo 140), today converted into a Cultural Center and crafts promenade. Both buildings responded to the vision of Don Carlos Idaho Gesellwhich promoted the development of that area when construction was concentrated only in the center and the north.
Throughout its history, the Romina was more than just accommodation. In the summer of 2007 the remembered “On restaurant-art”a space that combined gastronomy and culture. Artists such as Celeste Carballo, Jorgelina Alemán y The Mythical Inalong with street performers and exhibitions curated by the art gallery Teresa Nachman.
The artistic activity continued and they passed through the stage of the now Romina Art Hotel: Luis Salinas, Juan Salinas and Juan Acosta among other artists.
Today, under the direction of Romina Magnani —journalist and actress—, the artistic spirit is still present. Each room exhibits a work by the plastic artist Martin Villalbaalso the author of the mural visible from the beach. Your series Zoopopfestcomposed of eighteen unpublished paintings, is integrated into the hotel’s landscape as a permanent exhibition.
