Teenagers tortured and killed the most beloved dog on the beach: the Orelha case that moves Brazil

In Brazil there is commotion over the case of Eara dog who was brutally attacked by a group of teenagers from the exclusive Brazilian area of Brava Beachin Florianópolis. The animal had to be euthanized due to the severity of its injuries.

Recently, two teenagers were identified as suspects in the abuse. It is believed that the attack was carried out with shovels, randomly and out of cruelty.and that at the same moment another dog named Caramel was thrown into the sea to drown. But he survived.

After attacking Orelha, the young people identified a few hours ago had a “planned” trip to the United States and brought forward the return flight to this Thursday, the Civil Police reported.

In addition to summoning them for questioning, the police issued two search and seizure warrants and seized their phones, details local media G1.

The attack

Orelha was attacked on January 4 in Praia Brava. Local people found her injured and she was taken to a veterinarian. On January 5, due to the severity of her injuries, she was euthanized.

Orelha lived for years in a house maintained for the animals of the region. She was cared for by the residents and tourists of Praia Brava, who considered her “docile and playful.”

Janja SilvaPresident Lula’s wife, made a post on Instagram where she expressed her outrage over the case.

“I have never understood what goes through the mind and heart of someone who has the courage to mistreat another living being (…) the case of Orelha, the dog brutally murdered by teenagers in Florianópolis, It has caused me so much sadness and indignation.”, the message begins.

And he continues: «His death is not just an isolated episode of cruelty. It is a painful warning about a generation exposed, from an early age, to speeches and digital content that trivialize violence and transform pain into entertainment.»

Finally, he cited Caetano Veloso and expressed solidarity with the community that cared for the animal: «This case reminds me of a phrase by Caetano Veloso in 1968: ‘What kind of youth is this that says it wants to take power?’. We cannot close our eyes to attitudes like this. I stand in solidarity with the community that has always cared for Orelha with so much love and that, today, cries out for justice.»
