Northern Territory Police, in Australiawarned on Sunday that there are «crocodiles everywhere» like consequence of the recent floods.
Helicopters and planes have been deployed to municipalities in remote areas in order to carry out these evacuations.
«The situation could not be worse»Police Commander Shaun Gill told reporters.
«At least» 90 homes are without electricity and he warned residents about the proliferation of crocodiles.
«There are crocodiles absolutely everywhere. Don’t bathe, please. The message is very clear,» he said.
Police evacuated more than 1,000 people in the Northern Territory following heavy rain over the weekend.
Australia’s vast Northern Territory is one of the least populated regions in the country and is often seen affected by extreme weather conditions.
Researchers warn that climate change amplifies the risk of natural disasters such as forest fires, floods and cyclones.
