The La Plata Bar Association celebrated the central event of International Women’s Day

The activity included the participation of the president of the Buenos Aires Supreme Court, Hilda Kogan.

He La Plata Bar Association (CALP) began Women’s Week this Monday with an institutional event held at its headquarters, within the framework of an agenda of academic, institutional and cultural activities that will run until Friday, March 13.

The opening day began with a panel headed by the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Province of Buenos Aires, Dr. Hilda Kogan; the president of CALP, Dr. Marina Mongiardino; the counselor and first president of young lawyers of the College of the Province enrolled in the CALP, Dr. Josefina Sannen Mazzucco; the youngest lawyer starting registration, Dr. Lucía Esperanza Lima; and the lawyer with the longest experience in professional practice, Dr. Marta Haydee Ayerdi.

During the event, the “María Angélica Barreda” distinction was awarded, in honor of the first female lawyer in Argentina, received in 1910 at the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the UNLP and enrolled in the La Plata bar association.

Also honored were Dr. Marta Susana Montalto de Huergo, first female president of the CALP Disciplinary Court; Dr. Constanza Picco, best average lawyer from the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the UNLP in 2025; Dr. Matilde Andia Muñoz, with a post-mortem recognition of her professional career, a criminal lawyer with an extensive and notable career; and Dr. Liliana Etel Rapallini, lawyer with the most years as an authority in the Academic Area.

In addition, diplomas were awarded to more than 500 female attorneys from the different areas of the Bar Association.

Likewise, the work of the last year was reviewed and the role of women in the life of the entity was valued. “May the example of so many women who paved the way inspire us to continue working together, so that justice, equality and dignity continue to be the pillars that guide our profession and our institutional life,” said Mongiardino.

TRAINING AND SERVICES FOR CALP ENROLLERS

Among the main data presented, it was highlighted that during 2025, 1,540 academic activities were carried out together with more than 740 authorities, which represents an average of 35 activities per week and a total of 14,639 registrations.

In the services area, the College assisted more than 5,000 colleagues in the creation and renewal of digital signature certificates, in addition to providing support for their installation and configuration on devices. An exclusive space for advice on Registration Law was also created that provided personalized guidance to more than 500 professionals.

Likewise, the School’s library registered 14,695 requests linked to its different services and added an accessibility computer system for people with visual disabilities.

On the other hand, a new Services and Reports Office was created aimed at streamlining queries and procedures, which includes the sale of tokens and the management of DNI and passport for those enrolled and their family group.

INSTITUTIONAL TRANSPARENCY AND ADMINISTRATION

In institutional matters, it was highlighted that for the first time in the history of the La Plata Bar Association, the Ordinary Annual Assembly was held publicly and was broadcast live, with the participation of more than 500 colleagues.

Institutional transparency mechanisms were also reinforced through the live broadcast of all sessions of the Board of Directors and the Board of Directors, exceeding 100 broadcasts through its YouTube channel.

Management closed the first year of management with a financial surplus of more than 5%, and by the end of fiscal year 2025 it will reach a surplus of 15%. This result will allow us to expand the offer of academic training and advance new technological tools, including the development of the first CALP application with services and resources.

PROFESSIONAL EXERCISE AND ACCESS TO JUSTICE

For its part, the Disciplinary Court held more than 50 meetings during the year, maintained institutional negotiations with magistrates and state agencies, implemented active guards to attend to emergencies of professional practice and resolved 899 queries from enrollees.

In the area of ​​access to justice, the Free Legal Clinic was strengthened by expanding its work team, which allowed it to attend to 1,666 queries and grant 119 sponsorships. In addition, the call to form the Arbitration Court was launched, in which more than 70 colleagues registered.

During 2025, 825 new professionals were also enrolled, of which 61% were women. Within this framework, 660 free tokens were given at the time of the swearing-in and the proration of tuition was implemented to facilitate the access of young lawyers to professional activity.

PARTICIPATION AND INSTITUTIONAL LIFE

At the academic and institutional level, more than 450 colleagues participated in interdepartmental conferences in 40 disciplines. At the same time, the reactivation of institutional life within the judicial department stood out, where after many years authorities were elected again and their own regulations were drawn up.

Finally, improvements were mentioned in the services of the College’s Casa de Campo, whose facilities were used by 42,700 colleagues and their families during the last seasons.

Participating in the event were Miguel Berri (dean of the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the UNLP), Rita Gajate (rector of the UCALP), Diego Molea (rector of the UNLZ), Miguel Gonzales Andia (dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the UCALP), Valeria Moreno (academic secretary of the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the UNLP) and Ana María Bourimborde (president of the Chamber I Civil and Commercial).

Also present were Fernando Levene (former president of the CALP), Adriana Coliqueo (president of the Avellaneda-Lanús Bar Association), Victoria Lorences (president of the Lomas de Zamora Bar Association), Laura Salzman (president of the Association of Nutritionists of the Province of Buenos Aires-La Plata), Guillermo Saucedo (president of the Association of Auctioneers), Liliana Gareca and María del Carmen Villarreal (counselors directors of the Professional Council of Economic Sciences-La Plata Delegation) and Mabel Cardoni (president of the Association of Magistrates of La Plata).
