Starting this Wednesday, 03/11, the population will be able to access the 2026 flu vaccination campaign.
A new flu vaccination campaign was launched throughout the country with the aim of preventing complications caused by the influenza virus before the arrival of winter. The health strategy was promoted by the Ministry of Health of the Argentine Nation and began with the distribution of doses to the different provinces.
The campaign seeks to anticipate the period of greatest circulation of respiratory viruses, which usually occurs in the coldest months of the year. To this end, the Government has already sent hundreds of thousands of vaccines to provincial health systems for use in hospitals, health centers and vaccination centers.
As happens every year, vaccination will be carried out free of charge for groups considered at risk, within the national immunization calendar. Among them are:
- health personnel
- People over 65 years old
- Boys and girls between 6 and 24 months
- Pregnant people
- People with chronic diseases or risk factors
Health authorities stressed that the vaccine reduces the risk of hospitalizations and serious complications associated with the flu, especially in the most vulnerable sectors of the population.
This edition of the campaign also seeks to reinforce prevention against the international circulation of new variants of the influenza virus, which is why it was decided to advance the immunization strategy compared to other years.
The Ministry of Health recalled that the vaccine is safe, free and does not require a medical order for the groups included in the calendar. In addition, they recommended applying it before winter to guarantee better protection during the season of greatest viral circulation.
