The Justice ordered new psychiatric and psychological tests for the accused in the death of Rocío Alvarito.
The case investigating the death of Rocío Alvarito, the young woman who died after falling from a fifth floor in the La Loma neighborhood last November, added a new judicial chapter this past Thursday, March 12. The Chamber III of Criminal Appeals and Guarantees of La Plata ordered a series of in-depth psychological and psychiatric tests to be carried out for the only accused, Renzo David «Pucho» Salles.
The magistrates’ decision seeks to delve deeper into the profile of the accused and the nature of the bond he maintained with the victim at the time of the incident. These measures were requested by the young man’s defense, headed by lawyer Marcelo Peña, as part of his strategy for the reconstruction of the case.
Technical studies will be key to determining the accused’s mental state and analyzing his personality traits. Meanwhile, Rocío’s family and various social organizations in the city continue to demand justice, maintaining the case as one of the banners against gender violence in the region.
The tragic event occurred in an apartment on 20th Street, between 40 and 41, and since then it has generated a strong commotion in the residents of La Loma. The progress of these new expertise will be decisive in defining the elevation to trial and the procedural future of Salles.

What do psychological and psychiatric expertise seek to determine?
In highly complex cases such as that of Rocío Alvarito, expert reports are not simple interviews, but rather fundamental technical tools for judges. These are the three key points that the specialists will analyze:
- Comprehension ability: The psychiatric examination seeks to confirm whether the accused understands the criminality of his actions and whether he is in control of his mental faculties at the time of the act (which legally defines imputability).
- Personality traits: Forensic psychologists apply specific tests to identify behavioral patterns, levels of aggressiveness, tolerance for frustration and the presence (or absence) of empathy in the profile of the accused.
- Link analysis: It seeks to delve deeper into the dynamics of the relationship between the accused and the victim. This is vital to understand if there was a history of gender violence, manipulation or power asymmetry that could have influenced the tragic outcome.
