How to take care of your skin in today’s Argentina, according to an expert. Neither luxuries nor excesses.

Por: Galo, Maíl.

The skin became the protagonist. It is in the networks, in the filters, in the endless routines and in a market that does not stop growing, even when everything else becomes more difficult to sustain.

But while everything accelerates outside, inside the office the reality is different.

Dr. Ligia Natalia Noclinical and aesthetic dermatologist, Honorary Diploma from the UBA, builds her approach from that place. Based in Villa Urquiza and a growing community, his vision combines scientific evidence with something increasingly necessary: judgment.

Because in a context where everything seems to be within reach—but not always at the service of health—the difference is no longer in having more products, but in knowing how to use them.

“The difference is no longer in having more products, but in knowing how to use them.”

Skin in times of crisis: between fashion, health and essentials

In today’s Argentina, where every consumer decision becomes more conscious, skin care is also undergoing a transformation. Routines are simplified, priorities change and information – often excessive – forces us to rethink what is really necessary.

Far from passing trends, dermatology is once again positioned as a key tool to organize, understand and accompany. In this scenario, professionals like Dr. Ligia Natalia No become a reference not only for their training, but also for their ability to translate the complex into concrete decisions for the patient.

Interview

— With the increase in prices of imported products, what basic and “infallible” national pharmacy ingredients can replace the large luxury brands without losing effectiveness?

All components of national industry They are good and can replace the imported ones, always backed by ANMAT. I suggest having a basic routine: cleaning, hydration and photoprotection.

It is happening that social networks generate a need for consumption and over-information, which makes it difficult to be careful when purchasing. Therefore, I suggest that, if you do not know your skin, make a consultation: it will save you a lot of headaches and excessive expenses, since we can adapt to every budget and way of life.

— “Express” Dermatology vs. health: what do you think about the trend of routines seen on social networks? Are we over-medicating the skin for fashion?

Routines and aesthetic treatments today have become a “delivery”, in which the patient only expresses what he wants and avoids consulting. This means that, due to a lack of judgment, you lose money, are poorly advised, and no minor complications arise.

Physical consequences may appear – such as outbreaks, allergic reactions or infections – in addition to enhancing body dysmorphia, where the person appears distorted. That feeds a very harmful brain circuit. That is, we are putting both mental and physical health at risk.

— What pathologies are you seeing most frequently in the office currently (hair loss, breakouts, rosacea, etc.)?

Post pandemic, consultations for alopecia, vitiligo, psoriasis, acne, rosacea and there is also a very high number of sexually transmitted infections.

— In a country with high sun exposure like Argentina, what is the warning sign in a mole that the average patient usually ignores?

The A, B, C, D, E rule: asymmetry of the lesion, diffuse border, diameter of 6 mm or more and evolution over time.

This applies to both pigmented lesions and those that do not heal within four weeks. A timely diagnosis ensures cure or survival and improves the aesthetic result.

— In relation to daily exposure to screens, what impact does blue light have on the skin and what care do you recommend?

Regarding the light emitted by the devices, there is no scientific evidence that it generates as much damage as the sun.

Emphasis must be placed on the use of physical measures: clothing with a filter, hat, sunglasses and SPF 30+ sunscreen. Especially when one is going to be exposed between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., reinforcing reapplication every 2 to 3 hours.

It is also important to understand that no protector is waterproof: sweat, for example, causes the product to be lost and one is left unprotected.

Keys that are repeated in the query

  • Simple routines are usually more effective than complex ones
  • Not everything viral is suitable for your skin
  • Professional diagnosis avoids errors and unnecessary expenses

Taking care of your skin also means choosing well

Taking care of your skin should not be a luxury or an accumulation of products, but rather an informed decision. In a context where overinformation and trends often confuse more than they help, having a professional guide makes a difference.

Dr. Ligia Natalia No works from that place: understanding each case, simplifying what is necessary and designing real, sustainable routines adapted to each patient.

Because it’s not about doing more, but about doing it well.

If you feel like you’ve tried everything and can’t find results, or you don’t know where to start, A consultation can save you time, money and frustration.
