With more than five decades of experience, Frigorífico Marilú Damiano has established itself as one of the leading companies in the processing, selection and distribution of high-quality beef in Argentina. Born as a small neighborhood market in Villa Urquiza, today it combines experience, technology and a strategic vision that positions it within the demanding premium gastronomic segment.

The company was founded by Italian immigrants Domingo Ruggiero and Vito Manchisi, who started the project with a clear objective: to offer products of excellence and build solid ties with their customers. The name of the company arises from the union of the names of its children, Marilú Ruggiero and Damiano Manchisi, reflecting from its origin the family nature of the enterprise. That spirit, based on closeness, trust and craftsmanship, continues to be one of its fundamental pillars.

Matias Yegrosone of the owners of the refrigerator explains: «The current reality of the business is complex due to a cyclical issue due to the entire situation that the country is experiencing and mainly livestock farming with the context of exports and the global context of wars, all of this is affected. We initially had a drop of 40%, practically because everything in the gastronomy sector that is our audience. Final destination of sales marketing is very depressed. Now Marilú Daiano has a very important sales force that pulls a lot and that drops 40%. “We compensate for it with a very strong policy, incorporating new clients, and that substantially reduces this general decrease compensated by new clients and increasing the volume of kilos.”

Throughout its history, the company went through a process of sustained growth. The incorporation of Ángel Ruggiero, 15 years after its foundation, marked the beginning of expansion and professionalization, transforming the business into a structure with greater operational capacity. Later, Álvaro Moscoso played a key role in the commercial development and consolidation of the company, accompanying its evolution for decades.

Currently, the firm is led by a new generation made up of Diego Dibiagi and Matías Yegros, who are promoting a modernization stage focused on the incorporation of technology, the improvement of production processes, commercial expansion and brand positioning. The company thus combines the experience accumulated over decades with a contemporary view of the business.

From its plant in the City of Buenos Aires, the meat processing plant operates as a comprehensive center that covers beef butchering, sausage production, vacuum packaging, cold storage, and daily distribution logistics. It supplies restaurants, hotels, gastronomic companies, catering services and specialized businesses, maintaining a model of proximity that distinguishes it in the market.

One of its main differentials is the implementation of traceability and control systems that allow each stage of the process to be monitored, from the reception of the half-carcasses to the final delivery. This approach guarantees constant quality standards, ensuring well-selected, processed and presented cuts, with control at each instance of the production chain.

The commitment to added value and modernization of the plant—along with the incorporation of modern sanitary processes and management systems—has been key to its growth and to responding to the demands of haute cuisine. At the same time, the company begins to project itself into international markets, with the aim of positioning its brand beyond the country without losing its identity.

Marilú Damiano’s work philosophy is based on clear pillars: quality as the basis of the business, health commitment, trust with customers and constant evolution through investment in technology, infrastructure and training.

In parallel, the company assumes a strong commitment to the environment. It has ISO 14001 certification and participates in sustainable management programs, implementing practices aimed at minimizing the impact of its activity on the urban environment.

Despite the challenges of the economic context, the company has demonstrated a great capacity to adapt, strengthening its structure and expanding its presence in the market.

Future vision: «In the future, continue with the projection of becoming more and more technical, applying all the new methodologies and technologies to make it more and more efficient, which is our business vision, taking efficiency to the maximum to have a very good product and provide a better service every day. Aiming both at the domestic market and at expansion in the export market, in new markets that we can open.»

After more than 50 years of history, today it continues to evolve with a look toward the future.
