The national government managed to suspend the precautionary measure that required compliance with the Law. Meanwhile, teacher resignations are growing.
Numerous news portals repeat similar stories: the exodus of teachers from public universities is a pattern that is observed throughout the country.
Last year the CONADU – National Federation of University Teachers – had declared a chilling figure: from 2023 to 2025 10,000 university professors and researchers resigned. If we consider the resignations corresponding to this year, the result is even greater. These resignations are mostly due to the loss of purchasing power.

Even though the Ley 27795 of Financing of University Education obliges the Executive Branch to ensure the support of higher education1the national government managed – thanks to the collaboration of the Judiciary – to put on hold the precautionary measure that Justice itself had declared, which established a deadline for its compliance that expired on April 17 of this year.
This suspension of the measure that forced the Nation to comply with the Law (approved by Congress and widely supported by various sectors of Argentine society), again puts at risk not only the future of all public universities in the country, but also the future of the Argentine economy: without professionals and scientists, there is no possible development2.
As the Argentine doctor and physiologist Bernardo Alberto Houssay said:
»If science seems expensive, try ignorance»
The university community will take strength measures on Tuesday, May 12, where a New Federal March will be held that will challenge the entire country.
