The very high numbers of femicides continue to generate shock and indignation throughout Argentine territory. due to the slowness and indifference with which the judicial and security system acts.
After the terrible and avoidable outcome of the case of Agostina Vegatwo other femicides shocked the country: that of Sweet Candy in Misiones and Noelia Rivero in Buenos Aires.
Dulce, 17, was found in a septic chamber at a construction site: her body was in a state of putrefaction for four days because the police were not even looking for her remains.1
Noelia had reported her partner, even communicating with the police before her attacker took her life. By the time the officers arrived, Noelia had already been killed.2
A pattern that repeats itself over and over again. Decades pass, cases prescribe, femicides and rapists remain unpunished, (in)Justice blindly depending on what is convenient. And so, they come to add almost one hundred victims of femicides so far in 2026according to a report of the Lucía Pérez Observatory, one of the most complete and comprehensive in addressing gender violence.

The pain and fury they don’t understand
Meanwhile, hours before the 11th march for Ni Una Menos fury and anguish They take over the bodies of women who lived and experience firsthand the price that must be paid for the simple fact of existing. Abused, violated, humiliated and cowardly pointed out by those who will never suffer even close to the fear that we feel: men.
In multiple political colors, speeches and phrases have been heard that justify disastrous actions. The most recurring: »the feminists passed three towns».
If we pass three towns, why can almost a hundred women and transvestites be murdered in Argentina without serious consequences?
If there is a law that (at least on paper) forces the judicial system to take action, there continue to be this number of femicides, what would happen if remove this figure of the penal code?
And if false accusations are a problem, why does no one say that these represent just a 0.09% of the total?3
The icing on the cake is added to the fury caused by these cases: according to the national government, the figures of femicides in 2025 decreased, with a total number of 200 fatalities. But the Lucía Pérez Observatory dice another thing: last year there were 272 femicides and transvesticidesadding 269 attempts. A sum vastly higher than that presumed by Justice, which evaluates with criteria that favor its interests.4
