With more than 30 years of experience, the band presents its new single at the Museo del Fitito. A work that crosses the nostalgia of youth with a borderline story that changed the life of its leader, Gustavito.

After three decades making the country dance, The Tulips They return to the scene with the premiere of their new single titled “The Ball”. Far from being a mere festive fiction, the song hides behind a deep, intimate and reflective story about second chances.
The song is inspired by a very serious real road accident that its leader and vocalist suffered, Gustavitowhen he was 19 years old aboard his first great love on wheels: a Fiat 600 that his father had given him.
«La Bolita is not a song about a car. It is a true story that changed my life»defines the musician. «With that Bolita I experienced my first outings, my first bowling, my first adventures and the feeling of freedom that one has at that age. It was much more than a car: it was my road companion».
The accident: a before and after
Looking back took time. Today, at over 50 years old, Gustavito can put music to an episode that almost cost him his life. «When I was young I thought I was Superman, like many boys at that age»confesses the singer when remembering that, after a whole weekend of going out, on Sunday he went out again because he was the only one in the group who had a car. That morning, the car overturned. His family took the worst part. Around six in the morning, the hospital called at his parents’ house:
«My old man responded that it couldn’t be because I was sleeping. When he went to my room he discovered that the bed was empty. That’s when one of the worst mornings of his life began.».
The consequences of the crash marked his youth. Gustavito spent months in a wheelchair, then on crutches, and had to relearn many everyday things. «Thank God I am alive and I was the only one who was injured. Over time I understood that I had had a second chance and that I had to value life much more»he reflects.
A direct message to the new generations
Despite the dramatic background, «La Bolita» maintains the DNA of Los Tulipanes: it is a happy, fun and extremely rhythmic proposal, but that does not avoid social responsibility. The objective is direct: Raise awareness about the absolute danger of driving under the influence of alcohol.
«It has a very clear message: don’t drink alcohol and drive. I hope that some teenager hears this story and understands something that I didn’t understand when I was 19. If the song manages to avoid even one accident, it will already be worth it.»says the leader of the band.
For Gustavito, the Fiat 600 represents a wonderful time of neighborhood friends, impromptu trips and first loves: «We all have a story to tell with a Bolita, even if we have never had one. I would like people to get excited, smile and remember».
