The new fare schedule impacts the lines that connect both cities and especially hits those who make the trip every day for work or study. The passage was already close to the $5,000 per section.
Users who travel daily between The Silver and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires began the week with a new increase in public transportation. Starting this Monday, an update to the fares of medium-distance buses that connect both cities came into effect.
The measure mainly impacts the services of the Costera Metropolitana and Misión Buenos Aires companies, used by workers, students and passengers who make the trip on a regular basis.
With the increase applied, the Line 129 ticket went from costing $4,803 to $4,910 per trip, approaching the limit of the $5,000 per section.
The impact of the increase in passengers
The update is added to the increases registered in other transportation services in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), within a scheme of periodic adjustments that began to be implemented in recent months.
In this way, a person who makes the complete trip between La Plata and CABA will have to face an expense close to $10,000 daily if it includes round trip transfer.
For those who use these buses for about 20 days a month for work or academic reasons, the monthly cost of transportation could be around $200,000.
The schedule of new increases
The tariff scheme provides for new updates over the coming months in both rail services and other means of transport that circulate within the AMBA.
The authorities established a calendar of staggered increases that will continue until September and that will take ticket values to amounts higher than those registered before the fare readjustment.
