Mar del Plata will be the capital of specialty coffee with the arrival of “Coffee Cup 2026”

On July 25 and 26, the city will welcome more than 60 brands and industry leaders in an exhibition that will bring together international competitions, tastings, training and networking spaces to promote coffee culture specialty in Argentina.

Mar del Plata is preparing to become the epicenter of specialty coffee in Argentina with the realization of Mar del Plata Coffee Cup 2026an exhibition that will take place in the coming July 25 and 26 in it NH Gran Hotel Provincial.

The coffee event will bring together professionals, entrepreneurs, baristas, roasters, producers and coffee lovers from all over the country. With more than 60 participating brandsrepresentatives of more than 20 cities and a surface of 2,500 square metersthe proposal will offer live competitions, tastings, talks, interactive experiences and spaces for networking.

A space to promote coffee culture

Ignacio Ghirardellichemical engineer specialized in coffee and known on social networks as @nachocafeteroexplained that the objective of the meeting is to strengthen the entire value chain of specialty coffee.

«Mar del Plata Coffee Cup was born with the idea of ​​bringing together the entire specialty coffee value chain in one place. We want it to be a space where training, skills, business and the community coexist. Mar del Plata has a coffee culture that is in full growth and we believe that this expo can become a reference meeting point for all of Argentina,» he highlighted.

In addition, he highlighted that the growing interest of Argentines in specialty coffee prompted the creation of a space where the public can learn up close about the work that drives the entire industry.

Official competitions with international standards

During the two days, attendees will be able to discover the latest trends in the sector and participate in activities designed for both professionals and consumers.

The co-organizer of the event, Carolina Molina (@caromolinabarista), announced that the exhibition will feature three official competitions from the international specialty coffee circuit:

  • AeroPresswhere participants prepare coffee in front of a jury that evaluates the drinks through blind tastings.
  • Latte Arta competition that tests the technique and creativity of baristas in creating designs on milk.
  • Cup Tastersa sensory challenge in which competitors must identify coffee profiles by comparing different cups.

As an incentive, the winners will obtain experiences on coffee farms in Colombia and of Northern Argentina. In addition, training with certification from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA)dictated by Camilo Muñoz.

A meeting to strengthen Argentine specialty coffee

The initiative seeks to consolidate the national coffee ecosystem through the exchange of knowledge, the professionalization of the sector and the construction of an increasingly innovative and federal community.

Ignacio Ghirardelli is founder of South Shore Café in Mar del Plata, and leads projects linked to the marketing and export of coffee between Argentina and Colombia. He also developed research on caffeine together with INTI.

For her part, Carolina Molina is a barista, teacher and communicator specialized in coffee. Certified by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), she has more than six years of experience in professional training, coffee shop management and barista training.
