Breakfast is the first meal of the day and, without a doubt, one of the most important for our well-being. According to the guide’Eat healthy and move: 12 healthy decisions‘ from the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN), it is best to dedicate between 15 and 20 minutes to breakfast, and always before starting your usual activity.
In addition, they recommend not making a breakfast that is too light. According to the guide, this first meal should provide 20-25% of daily calories and include both solids and liquids, combining dairy products, bread, cereals and fresh fruit or vegetables. They also advise prioritizing foods rich in fiber and limiting fat content.
And one of the famous faces who is committed to taking meticulous care of this first meal, although following his own adapted method, is José Mota. In an interview given to the podcast What You Say, presented by Álex Fidalgo, the comedian, 61, explained his daily routineand what he usually eats for breakfast. Their days start early, around 8 in the morning. «I wake up without an alarm clock. When I open my eyes, it’s over. Even if I want to fall asleep again, I can’t. Unless I have an appointment that I can’t miss, I wake up only around that time,» he said.
Among his morning habits, one in particular stands out. «The first thing I do is go out into the sunlight and walk barefoot. On the days when I don’t have to work, sometimes I do sports and then I have breakfast or breakfast and when a couple of hours pass, I do sports. Afterwards I dedicate my time to reading, I really like reading,» he said.
Regarding breakfast, the presenter acknowledged that he opts for a combination of foods rich in proteins and healthy fats, distancing himself from traditional low-fat guidelines. “I have a small glass of bone broth for breakfast, then I make two scrambled eggs with avocado and a buckwheat toast because gluten is terrible for me and I put mackerel and tomato on top. And then I eat natural yogurt,» he said. It should be noted that buckwheat (or buckwheat) is a pseudocereal that, despite its name, is not related to common wheat and is naturally gluten-free, making it an excellent option for sensitive stomachs.

In this way, the comedian from La Mancha starts the day with an excellent source of essential minerals, bone broth, as it provides calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, essential for health. In fact, doctor Manuel Viso affirms that bone broth is a comforting and natural food, making it perfect to be part of a healthy diet. Of course, the expert warns that it is not a miraculous supplement nor does it replace a balanced diet.
Regarding physical exercise, Mota explained that he prefers to work on his own rather than with a personal trainer. «They do a great job, but I achieve less performance. I like to run, exercise and feel free, not that there is someone watching. There are colleagues of mine who have a trainer, but I don’t have that time,» he stated.
Therefore, the free time he has is dedicated to doing an hour of exercise, combining cardio and toning. «I work in areas, but it’s not something that obsesses me either. I do it to feel good,» he declared. What is also part of her training routine is yoga. «It’s very good for me, but what I never do is meditate. If you have a good quality of sleep, your day flows very well,» he said.

This close relationship between staying active and achieving a restful rest is key for the body to recover after the day. It should be noted that the Spanish Heart Foundation states that sleeping well facilitates the production of melanin and serotonin, two hormones that are responsible for counteracting the effects of stress. According to the entity, this has positive effects on our mood and has an impact on our daily lives.
