The Association of Tourism Hotels of the Argentine Republic (AHT)through its subsidiary Pinamar & Cariló, presented the institutional project “Pinamar & Cariló: EV-ready destination”, developed in alliance with Chargebox Net, the most extensive charging network for electric vehicles in the country. The initiative will integrate member hotels into the first network of EV Premium Hotels on the Argentine coast and will turn the city into the first EV-friendly hotel corridor in the country.
The project comes at a time of strong expansion of electric mobility in Argentina. In 2026, growth in the sector is projected to exceed 500%with a fleet of between 2,500 and 15,000 electric charging vehicles. This trend consolidates a new travel logic, in which the ABC1 segment tourist no longer chooses his destination solely for its environment or commercial proposal, but for sustainable concepts such as the charging infrastructure available for his vehicle.

A corridor designed in three axes
The project is deployed along three complementary lines of action:
- Cutting-edge infrastructure: installation of intelligent semi-rapid chargers in associated hotel establishments, optimizing energy consumption.
- Global positioning: integration of Pinamar charging points into international platforms such as EV Jungle, Google Maps y PlugShare.
- Sustainable destination brand: event launch “Electric Weekend Pinamar” and promotional road trips with content creators, brands and automotive terminals.
The project will not only attract tourists who are more aware of caring for the environment, but will also consolidate the perception of Pinamar as a leading municipality in sustainability, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
One more step in the sustainable commitment of the AHT
The initiative is part of the AHT’s sustained commitment to hotel sustainability. The institution has been developing this work for more than a decade through its program Greener Hotels. The HMV Ecolabel, the only one of its kind nationwide, has already certified more than 207 accommodations in more than 60 destinations in the country.
In March of this year, the AHT and the Municipality of Pinamar signed a framework agreement to implement the Greener Hotels sustainability program in the local hotel industry. The agreement includes public-private training and technical support for accommodations to adopt environmental management standards.
A trend that is already seen in the world
Cargo availability is consolidating as a tourism decision factor at a global level. In Spain, for example, the possibility of recharging the vehicle at the hotel is beginning to occupy the same place that Wi-Fi has today when choosing accommodation. It is now common for high-end chains, business hotels and those located in tourist areas to offer the service to attract electric owners.
In Argentina, the trend is also advancing. Last December, Enersa and the Entre Ríos Tourism Secretariat signed agreements to install chargers in hotels and hot springs in the province. Months ago, the Chargebox network also inaugurated a solar charging point on the Atlantic Coast, in conjunction with the Pinamar Electric Cooperative.
About the Greener Hotels program
Developed by the AHT, the program today has more than 175 certified accommodations throughout the country, with a projection to reach 200 this year. It is the only Ecolabel of national scope in Argentina and is open to any tourist accommodation, regardless of its categorization. The initiative is also expanding in Paraguay and Uruguay together with the hotel associations of both countries.
