Luxembourg has reinforced its commitment to bolstering Cambodia’s tourism industry, focusing specifically on advanced vocational training and targeted human resource development within the hospitality sector, officials announced following a high-level diplomatic meeting.
The bilateral discussions took place during a courtesy call between Minister of Tourism Huot Hak and Thomas Lammar, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Luxembourg, at the Ministry of Tourism on August 6, 2026. The engagement underscored the expansion of collaboration centred on professional skills enhancement and institutional capacity-building.
Hak expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Luxembourg for their steadfast partnership. He highlighted Luxembourg’s ongoing interest in the Ministry’s Vocational School of Tourism (VST), pointing out that prior visits by high-level Luxembourg delegations demonstrate a shared dedication to elevating local educational standards in the service sector.
Detailing national progress, Hak outlined Cambodia’s stable political and economic landscape, positioning the Kingdom as a secure destination. He detailed major promotional initiatives, including the “Cambodia: Kingdom of Wonder, Feel the Warmth” and “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaigns, alongside strategic partnerships involving airlines, international media, and content creators.
Lammar noted that tourism remains a priority pillar under the Cambodia–Luxembourg Indicative Cooperation Programme. He affirmed that Luxembourg will leverage its recognised expertise in hospitality to cultivate skilled professionals, aiming to elevate operational benchmarks across Cambodia’s service workforce.
To expand visitor arrivals, Hak urged the Embassy to help facilitate familiarisation trips for European media and travel operators, encourage foreign investment, and foster deeper people-to-people exchanges.
Diplomatic officials observed that tourism has rapidly matured into a cornerstone of bilateral cooperation, building on momentum from the 2025 Royal Visit of H R H Prince Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Xavier Bettel.
