Before the break, Iceland struck again: Gudjohnsen’s incisive pass sliced through Luxembourg’s defence and found Oskarsson, who calmly finished past Moris to make it 2-0 in the 39th minute. Luxembourg’s best reply came before half-time when Thill forced a save from Valdimarsson, but the score remained unchanged at the interval.
Luxembourg emerged from the break looking to respond, and Thill went close in the 52nd minute but could not score. Iceland remained dangerous, with Ellertsson finding space on the right to deliver a low cross for Haraldsson, who shot wide from a good position in the 57th minute.
The match became increasingly scrappy, with frequent substitutions, fouls, and injury stoppages disrupting the rhythm. Clear-cut chances were rare for both teams. With the game effectively settled, both sides saw out the final minutes without further incident or significant opportunities, sealing a 3-0 defeat for Luxembourg.
