A site specialized in longevity announced the news of the death of Manoel Angelim Dino, to their 106 years.
A few months ago, the organization Guinness had recognized this man and his wife as having the longest lasting marriage today, since they had more than 84 years married.

On February 14, Angelim, who was then 105 years old, and his wife, Maria de Sousa Almeida, from 101, had been awarded for Guinness after reaching the world record for years married: 84 years and 77 days.

84 years of love: the longest lasting marriage in the world
After Dino’s death, the institution that registers the records wrote its words of condolences: «Guinness is saddened to learn that half of the longest-married couple in the world has died. Rest in peace, Manoel», reads on his page.
The death was also mourned by LongeviQuest, that expressed: «We send our condolences to the family and friends of Manoel Angelim Dino at this difficult time.»
The Brazilian’s funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, the 21st, in the municipality of Boa Viagem, where he lived, along with Maria, under the care of his relatives.
A whole life at the same time: the love story of the longest lasting marriage in the world
Manoel Angelim Dino was born in July 1919 in the municipality of Bon voyage, state of Ceará, Brazil, while Maria de Souza Dino did the same in April 1923, also in Boa Viagem.
Therefore, Manoel and María met in their place of origin, back in 1936. They both worked in agriculture with their respective families, and it was in that work that one day that year they crossed paths.
However, it was not until 1939, when they met again, that Manoel fell in love with his future wife. But Maria’s mother initially disapproved of the union, and her father declared that he would only authorize the marriage if Angelim could build a house for them both within a year.
Far from being discouraged, Dino complied with the request and thus, on November 20, 1940, he married María.
After marrying, they worked together in agriculture, mainly growing tobacco, and over the years they had 13 children, who in turn left him the numerous descendants of 55 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
One of her daughters died in childbirth, so Maria, who was 59 years old at the time, made the decision to become a mother again and raise her newborn granddaughter, Valeria.

In 2023, she witnessed her grandparents’ 83rd wedding anniversary celebration. According to the Brazilian media G1, at that time, when Valeria asked them about the secret of such a long lasting marriageMaria responded that it was simple: amor.
Likewise, two years later, Valeria said that Maria and Angelim were very happy to learn that they had broken the world record with their marriage.
According to the granddaughter, at that time, her grandmother was recovering from a fractured femur and her mobility was limited, but she had no other health problems. His grandfather, meanwhile, also had difficulty moving, but he was also very healthy and did not take any medication.
With the death of Manoel Angelim Dino, the marriage ended at 84 years and 11 months, so he was only 1 year and 320 days away from being the oldest in history, a title they hold. Herbert y Zelmyra Fisher, already deceased, who were married for 86 years and 290 days.
