A popular chef and television star died in a tragic helicopter accident

The popular television host and culinary celebrity, My little Steffens43, died in a tragic helicopter accident in South Africa. The acclaimed chef and cookbook author died after the aircraft she was occupying collided with power lines.

The accident occurred on Monday November 10 while Steffens sprayed crops on a farm near Patencylocated in the Eastern Cape province, according to British media such as Daily Star, Express y The Sun.

The helicopter crashed to the ground in the Granja Roodegrond. The impact occurred around 7:45 in the morning. Steffens lost his life at the scene of the accident along with the helicopter pilot.

Ruan Scheepers, the owner of Roodegrond Farm, was alerted to the incident by his workers. Scheepers described the fatal accident as a «terrifying experience».

The authorities they started an investigation about the incident to identify the exact cause why the aircraft hit the electrical cables. Officials confirmed that the accident unit of the Civil Aviation Authority is in charge of said investigation.

Police said it was premature to share additional details of the case at this time. However, authorities extended their condolences to the families of both victims.

The legacy of Mynie Steffens: a life dedicated to gastronomy and television

Steffens was known in her country for co-hosting a popular cooking and lifestyle show on South African television. His successful program was titled Play with Firewhich translates as «Play with fire»where it combined gastronomy, adventure and storytelling.

Aldi van der Walt, co-host of the show and friend of Steffens, said she was «struggling» to come to terms with the «massive shock» and «tragic loss.» Van der Walt highlighted that her friend «he lived life to the fullest» and was constantly «brimming with ideas that turned into successful companies.»

Van der Walt added that Mynie had «a big heart, gentle soul»and was «the glue that held people together.» The idea for their cooking show was born during a reunion in adulthood, after the two met playing hockey as teenagers.

Steffens’ editor revealed that his passion for cooking over fire began at the age of ten. Her acclaimed cookbook, «My Plays with Fire»mixed recipes with music lists and themed menus.
