Tapalquéone of the most picturesque towns in the Buenos Aires pampas, is preparing to live its 162nd birthday with three days of celebrations that combine tradition, history and modernity. Of the November 7 to 9the town will open its doors to visitors to share not only its rich gastronomy and mountain landscapes, but also the pride of a frontier past that marked the construction of the Buenos Aires identity.

The name Tapalqué, which in Mapuche means “Water with cattails”reflects the essence of this destination that grew on the banks of the homonymous stream. Although there are records of the area since 1806, it was Juan Manuel de Rosas who in 1831 established the “Canton Tapalqué Viejo”, marking the limit of Creole dominion. The final foundation was completed on November 7, 1863although its legal recognition would arrive on July 19, 1865.
Celebration program: from urban rhythm to Creole tradition
The celebrations will begin on Friday, November 7 at 5:00 p.m. with the Municipal Workshop on Urban Rhythms by Maximiliano Díaz. The Cultural Petonal will be transformed into an open-air stage where artists such as Sweet Sensation, Alturias, Adrián Len, Gustavo Madeja and Agustina Velazco.
That same day, at 2:30 p.m.will be inaugurated entrepreneurs and artisans fair which will last for the three days of the celebration. Visitors will be able to purchase regional productshighlighting the famous Tapalqué Black Cakea local gastronomic emblem.
He Saturday 8 the traditional will take place Canton Festivalwhich will begin with a protocol event with local authorities. From the 10:00 hoursa multitudinous roast with stoves where the Traditional Cow with Leatherlamb and other typical dishes. The main stage will feature performances by Analía López, Magalí Menchaca, Musicanto, Los Torteros and Los Pampas.
The Municipal Museum: a journey through time
He domingo 9of 9:00 to 13:00 hourshe Municipal Museum will open its doors in a special way for visitors. The space offers a tour of local history through themed rooms:
- Native Peoples Room: Revalues the culture and ways of life of the original inhabitants
- Tapalqué Canton Room: Includes a support virtual reality that recreates life in border times
- Gaucho and Traditions Room: Shows the evolution of the local inhabitant
- Tapalqué Enamora Room and Women’s Steps: Pays tribute to outstanding female figures
- Object Maze: Displays the rich municipal collection with temporary samples
Tapalqué Hot Springs: the jewel that begins its high season
Taking advantage of the festivities, the Tapalqué Hot Springs complex will start your most intense season. Located 280 km from CABA, in a wooded property of 17 hectaresthe complex offers indoor pools and a Water Square with commercial and gastronomic premises.

The complex’s team has assistants who explain the properties of the hot springs and permanent nurses to answer questions. Previous reservations are mandatory due to limited space.

Tapalqué is located 270 km from Federal Capitalaccessing through the RN 205 and RP 51. Spring appears as best time to visit the town, enjoying the sun, the expanses of countryside, bird watching and contact with nature on the banks of the Tapalqué stream.
