David Cruz Matus, Senior Presales Architect of Huawei Cloud, highlighted within the framework of the panel “Smart and connected: the opportunity to evolve for and with AI”, which took place at the 35th Edition of the International Conference, organized by ATVC and CAPPSA, a conversation that brought together leaders of technological innovation to reflect on the challenges, opportunities and strategies for adopting intelligence artificial intelligence (AI) in the new digital ecosystem.
The debate was part of the block “Advancing towards an intelligent and sustainable digital ecosystem”, with the participation of Maximiliano Medina (Client Engineering Manager, IBM), Guillermo Wichmann (Customer CTO, Nokia) and was moderated by the journalist Andrea Catalano.
During the meeting, the specialists agreed that AI represents an unprecedented opportunity to transform business processes and models, but that its implementation requires governance, collaboration and a solid base of reliable data.
Cruz Matus emphasized the importance of combining technology, processes and human talent to achieve concrete results. «We must have data management platforms that allow us to experiment and train models until we achieve adoptable solutions. AI must be accessible to all businesses,» he said.
He also highlighted the value of technological partners as key players in the ecosystem: «Today partners are essential to accompany the development of artificial intelligence and facilitate its integration into any business reality.»
Maximiliano Medina, from IBM, highlighted: «Artificial intelligence is just another tool: the important thing is to understand what we want to achieve and how we can take advantage of it. Implementing it is a joint effort that requires alliances and cooperation between companies.» He also stressed that data is the essential “fuel” of AI, and that it is key to guarantee its quality, order and governance.
«90% of companies agree that they should incorporate AI, but only 5% have done so. The challenge is to accompany them to take that step. The strategy must be collaborative and based on action: test, adjust and advance until the true value of AI is extracted,» Medina concluded.
For his part, Guillermo Wichmann, from Nokia, analyzed the impact of the expansion of data centers and the need for a sustainable environment for technological growth.
«AI is going to demand more powerful infrastructures: in the coming years we will work with around 11,000 mega data centers in the world. This implies an enormous energy and connectivity challenge, and the need to generate an efficient and collaborative ecosystem,» he explained.
Wichmann also highlighted that AI can become a lever for technological inclusion, especially for companies and SME operators: «The adoption of AI is inexorable. We have to think about how SMEs can access low-latency networks and take advantage of artificial intelligence to be in the place where the action happens.»
The speakers agreed that the path towards a smart digital ecosystem must be open, interoperable, governed by common standards that guarantee security and trust, and capable of driving smarter, more inclusive and sustainable digital development.
