The Mar del Plata leader Alejandro Yapuncic, president of the Mar del Plata and Atlantic Coast Martial Arts Association and the River Plate Club of Mar del Plata, recently returned from Seoul, South Korea, where he participated in the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the International Taekwondo Federation.
Yapuncic, Grand Master of Ninth Dan, the highest graduation in this art, attended the Ambassador’s Seminar and the gala celebration at The Westin Josun Hotel, where representatives from different countries met. During his stay, he visited historical sites of Asian culture and met with other world taekwondo leaders.
An Achievement for South America
Yapuncic highlighted the confirmation of the 2026 ITF World Taekwondo Games in Punta del Este, Uruguay, an event that will bring together the best athletes in the world. “It is an achievement for South America and an opportunity for the people of Mar del Plata to participate,” said Yapuncic.
Preparations in Mar del Plata
Starting in May, the River Plate Club of Mar del Plata will begin special training to prepare athletes for this international event. Yapuncic invited all interested parties to join the training sessions and be part of this unique experience.
A Leader in World Taekwondo
Yapuncic’s participation in the ITF 60th anniversary celebrations is a recognition of his leadership and dedication to taekwondo. His commitment to the sport and his passion for sharing it with others make him a true ambassador of taekwondo in Mar del Plata and in the world.
