Brilliance, attitude and Buenos Aires connection: Dua Lipa’s night in River

On November 7, the Monumental de River became a catwalk of pop and style. Dua Lipa presented her Radical Optimism Tour before more than 80 thousand people, in a show where fashion was as much a protagonist as music.

An artist who thinks of fashion as part of the show

Since her first appearance on stage, Dua Lipa confirmed that each of her looks was designed to tell a visual story. Her aesthetic—between futuristic glam and elegant pop—was an extension of her new album Radical Optimism, a manifesto of confidence, color and energy.

In Buenos Aires, the singer combined the pulse of an international diva with local warmth. There were lights, dancing and a moment that unleashed the audience’s emotion: their version of De Música Ligera as a tribute to Soda Stereo. But even in that most emotional moment, the costumes remained part of the story.

The singer chose, together with her stylist Lorenzo Posocco, exclusive looks made by names such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Chanel and Valentino. The costume ranged from a gold Jean Paul Gaultier corset with matching boots for the start, to a seven-kilogram black and gold Chanel bodysuit, adorned with chains and rhinestones.

The absolute red

In the center of the show it was the turn of the red glitter bodysuit with matching boots and gloves. A tight design, with a shiny texture, that transmitted fire and pure energy.

Red—a color historically associated with power and passion—marked the climax of the recital. The artist danced, jumped, connected with the audience and raised the visual rhythm of the show.

This chromatic choice was not accidental: in the sequence of the show, red functioned as the point of maximum emotional expansion. And for this segment she opted for one from Valentino, a piece inspired by haute couture from the house’s archive.

Metallic shine and stage power

The night began with Dua Lipa wearing a silver bustier by Jean Paul Gaultier, a key piece of the collection that opened the show.

With tight-fitting strap details at the front and matching gold-tone boots, this ensemble conveyed strength and sophistication, dispensing with accessories and focusing attention on materials and construction.

The metallic material—a strong trend in recent European shows—not only stood out under the LED lighting, but also communicated strength and sophistication.

The look was accompanied by high boots and white gloves, achieving an image that could be described as glam rock with pop precision.

For the styling public, this outfit is an example of how to think about clothes based on the environment: it is not just “what is worn”, but how it behaves under the light, color and energy of the moment.

The corset, which already shows signs of use, was described by the singer as an “almost vintage object,” as she shared in an interview with Vogue.

The black that surrounds

Towards the end, Dua Lipa appeared in a minimalist black fishnet bodysuit with long gloves. A total contrast compared to the previous brightness.

Black represented the closing: sober, strong and with attitude. A nod to club aesthetics and the 2000s, with a contemporary approach.

The final styling reaffirmed a concept that runs through their entire tour: versatility as a new form of identity. Dua Lipa can be sensual, powerful and minimalist without losing visual coherence.

Chanel: weight and luxury in black and gold

One of the most talked about points of the night was Chanel’s black and gold bodysuit, a seven-kilogram piece constructed with leather chains and rhinestones, inspired by an iconic Christy Turlington haute couture look from 1992.

This set was completed with leather gloves, chain choker and resin touches, adding hours of artisan work.

The weight of the design challenged the limits of show costumes, demonstrating the performative nature and Dua Lipa’s ability to adapt fashion to the dynamics of the stage.

Fashion, performance and personal brand

Beyond the garments, the artist reaffirms a central idea: fashion as a language.

Each costume change is not a pause, but a narrative transition. Dua does not “change her clothes”, she evolves her character.

His styling team, led by Lorenzo Posocco, works on costumes as an extension of the musical concept. Metallic fabrics, liquid shine, corset silhouettes and full bodies in lycra form their own code that reinforces their global pop identity.

For fashion styling and production professionals, this show leaves key lessons: thinking about coherence between image, light and sound. Understanding that a look tells a story and recognizing that stage fashion can be as influential as a catwalk.

During her time in Buenos Aires, Dua Lipa not only gave a first-class show. It showed that fashion can also be an act of connection with the public. Between lights, shine and local winks, he left an idea that summarizes an entire generation of artists: style is a way of saying who I am, even before singing.
