A high-voltage leading duo
With a leading duo that promises exceptional scenic intensity, Benjamin Vicuna y Esteban Lamothe will give life to the iconic characters of this story where, as they themselves say, “You don’t fall in love with who you want.” . Under the direction of Javier Daulteone of the most influential references in Argentine theater, the work addresses forbidden love, emotional tension and a sensitivity that runs through each scene.
The cast is completed with Laura Paredes y Roberto Castrotwo key figures on the national scene who provide solidity and depth to this production that is anticipated to be one of the great theatrical events of the year.
A love story that challenged the world
Set in the deep interior of the United States, the work narrates the intense and complex bond between two young cowboys who, in the middle of the immensity of the mountain, discover a feeling as powerful as it is impossible within the social context that condemns them. “You are not going to fall in love with whoever you want.” It resonates like a sentence that irreversibly marks the destiny of both.
The story follows Jack Twist y Ennis del Martwo young cowboys who meet in 1963 when they are hired to tend sheep. In the solitude of the rugged landscape, between hard days and shared silences, a deep bond arises between them that results in an unexpected and forbidden love for the time. At the end of the season, each one resumes his life, but the connection between them remains intact. Over the years, they meet again in secret to sustain a relationship marked by passion, guilt, desire and social mandates that force them to live their truth in the shadows.
The director’s word
Javier Daulte, recognized for his ability to articulate dramatic depth, narrative rhythm and a sensitive look at extreme emotions, reflects on the work:
«You don’t fall in love with who you want. We can’t even propose to love or stop loving someone. Because it is a force that goes beyond our will. Trying to tame it is, if not impossible, at least very painful.
Jack and Ennis, two men for whom the social fabric had provided a clear and conventional path, did not propose it: love happened to them. In the perfect place, but in the wrong context. Brokeback Mountain is a love story as heartbreaking as it is wonderful.” .
