The Italian island of Caprion the Amalfi Coast, will ban next summer the access to groups of more than 40 people to better manage the large flow of visitors arriving for one day, the Italian agency reported on Saturday ANSA.
In addition, guides accompanying groups of more than 20 people must use wireless headphones instead of speakersin accordance with new regulations approved by the city council.
Guides must also carry a discreet badge, and not an umbrella or other conspicuous object or unaesthetic so that your group can identify them.
Capri, located in the Bay of Naples, is known for its white houses, its coast and its coves, as well as its luxury hotels.
The island has some 13,000 permanent residents, but in summer it attracts crowds of visitors, who can come up to 50,000 per day according to estimates.
The president of the professional association Ascom Confcommercio Capri, Lorenzo Coppola, welcomed «an essential tool to facilitate circulation», a measure that follows the limitation of 25 people per group imposed in Venice in 2024.
