Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (CFK) released an extensive document titled «To the militant comrades» after the October 26 elections, with the aim of contextualizing the result and «providing our vision of what is coming and what needs to be done.» The text, which includes an electoral analysis, a political warning and a harsh criticism of the Judiciary, calls for the unity of Peronism.
Electoral Analysis and the “Political Error” in PBA
In her analysis of the elections, the former president highlighted the triumph of the Peronist governors in their provinces. However, he described what happened in the Province of Buenos Aires (PBA) as a «political error by messing up the electoral strategy» when deciding to split the election.
CFK maintains that the split and the difference in votes operated as a «STEP or runoff» that ended up «regrouping the anti-Peronist vote» for the October election. The former president assures that this warning was made public on April 14 and also transmitted privately to the governor.
The “Fear Factor” and Bimonetary Debt
The letter also introduces the figure of «fear» as a determining actor, adding to the «old anti-Peronism.» This fear, according to the former vice president, was stirred by the possibility of a political crisis that would aggravate the economic situation and intensified with an «escalating rise in the dollar.»
In a particularly sensitive point, CFK mentions an «emotional over-stimulation» of the electorate caused by the intervention of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who warned that aid from the North American Treasury «was going to end» if the opposition party did not win the elections. In this framework, he reiterates his warning that Argentina is in its «third debt crisis.»
Harsh Offensive against Peronism and the «Judicial Party»
One of the central points of the document is the warning about an imminent «strong offensive to try to break Peronism and the national and popular field as a whole.»
CFK denounces that transforming the country into a «factory» requires more than winning an election and implies an «offensive» that the so-called «Judicial Party» has already launched. To demonstrate this, he recounts a series of rulings by the «Court of Three» that occurred the day after the election:
- Dismissal of Mauricio Macri (for spying on relatives of ARA San Juan), Luis Caputo and Federico Sturzenegger.
- Confirmation of sentences against space figures such as Martín Sabbatella and Guillermo Moreno.
- Rejection of at least 10 appeals by the undersigned, including one in the case of the attempted murder against him.
The former president concludes that the political, union and social leadership in Argentina is on «conditional freedom», with the objective that «no leader dares to defend the interests of the Nation and the People.»
Call to Unity and Courage
Finally, Cristina Kirchner insists on the value of unit as a «political instrument of national, popular and democratic construction.» He asks to add to that unity «militancy with cohesion and strategic and programmatic clarity.» The document closes with a demand that the leaders have «head, heart and a lot, a lot of courage.»
