The province of Tucumán is going through critical hours after the impact of a fierce storm: 170 millimeters fell in a single day. The most serious situation is recorded in the southern province, where the overflowing of the Marapa and San Francisco rivers left the town of La Madrid practically submerged, forcing hundreds of families to abandon their homes in the middle of the night.
This fact of national relevance already adds hundreds of evacuees and strategic routes, such as National 157, interrupted by the advance of water. Given the magnitude of the catastrophe, provincial authorities ordered the suspension of classes throughout the district until the end of the week, while rescue teams work in areas that have been isolated by massive flooding.
The scenario is complex and the National Meteorological Service remains on alert, since new rainfall is expected that could make drainage of already saturated soils difficult. This phenomenon not only affects road infrastructure and basic services, but also highlights the vulnerability of riverside populations to increasingly extreme climate events.

How to help and become aware
Solidarity is essential in times of climate crisis. Here we leave you some official channels and awareness points to collaborate with the victims:
- Donations: You can channel help through national organizations such as Caritas Argentina o Solidarity Networkwhich typically activate receiving centers across the country for non-perishable food and cleaning supplies.
- Official information: I followed the accounts of Civil Defense of Tucumán to know the updated status of the routes and evacuee centers before sending parcels.
- Climate awareness: These events remind us of the urgency of discussing water infrastructure works and prevention policies against climate change that affects various regions of the country.
