Some love stories are not forgotten, they remain paused, as if time had not touched them. That’s what happened to Amelie Malmfältwhose first love was born at the age of eight, in a Swedish school in London, and was marked forever.
Amelie met Kris Brock in 1987when he came to class wearing a yellow sweater that said “Sydney.” There were only 10 kids in the course.
With the passage of time They confirmed their courtship and on their first date they went to the movies. They watched a movie about Herbie the Volkswagen Beetle, and then went to McDonald’s. However, it did not last long: Kris’ family moved from London to Switzerland when he turned nine.
He first reunion arrived in 1997. Amelie was 18 years old and organized a school alumni reunion with a friend. He got the Brock family’s landline in Sweden, called and Kris answered.
He traveled to Stockholm to see her, and As soon as he entered the premises where she worked, they immediately recognized each other. That night they went to dinner, held hands, and then went to the movies to see “Scream.”
They got back together a couple. Kris abandoned a plan to go to Mexico and settled in London, where Amelie was starting university. He worked as a chef in a pub in Earl’s Court and they spent all their free time together.

But after a year he had to return to Switzerland to begin his career. They tried to sustain the long-distance relationship between London and Switzerland for about six months, until they couldn’t take it anymore.
The breakup was hard. They didn’t stop loving each other, but distance and age weighed more. After that, they cut contact for almost 10 years. Each one continued with his life, had other relationships and made his own path.

He twist came in 2007. Kris ran into Amelie’s parents at an airport and shortly after wrote to her on Facebook. She was at work when she saw her name on the screen and smiled immediately. She told her classmates who he was and even said, without thinking too much, that he was the man she was going to marry.
They were both in their late twenties and had just met singles. They started corresponding again and Kris traveled to London to see her. The reunion went well and they resumed their relationship. For over a year they traveled between London and Switzerland until Kris’ work took him to Stockholm. There they made the strong decision: Amelie left the life she had in London and moved to Sweden.

Then came everything else. Kris proposed to her in Australia. They got married in Ibiza in 2011 and at the wedding his mother showed them the old sheet from his nine-year-old birthday, the same one she had kept for decades. Later They had two children and in 2016 they moved to Sydney.
Today they still live in Australia. In between they also went through a difficult time, when Kris was detected with a benign brain tumor in 2020.
