Early on Friday, October 10, a tourist visiting the coast of Playa d’en Bossaone of the most famous of Ibizawas petrified when he saw that a human foot floated on the shore. Desperate, he called the authorities, and now the mystery about its origin.
The police received the notification at 8:00 a.m. and went to the scene to corroborate the discovery. This was reported in a statement that quickly gained importance in the local media.
Several patrols of the National Police and specialists from its Scientific Police unit were deployed to begin the investigations and transfer the limb to the Institute of Legal and Forensic Medicine of Ibiza.
Eight agents were deployed in the section between Mediterrània and Fray Luis de León streets, and cordoned off the area to prevent alteration of the scene and guarantee the collection of evidence.

The main hypothesis is that the foot would have been swept away by the strong sea storm recorded during the early morning. Ibiza was hit by torrential rain last week and there were further downpours this week after Storm Alice hit the Balearic Islands and the Costa Blanca.
Seeing the display, several tourists and residents came to see what was happening, and were stunned when they learned the reason why the security force had come.

Those staying at the four-star Vibra Algarb hotel, near the place where the limb was found, and others heading to a nearby gym, stayed to watch the operation.
According to local media reports, police are trying to establish whether the remains belong to a man or a woman, and then investigate whether the person died as a result of a violent crime.
Three days before, a body was recovered in Ibiza: they are investigating whether the foot belongs to the same victim
On Tuesday, October 7, three days before this macabre discovery, a decomposed body floating near the city of Ibiza was brought to shore by the coast guard.
Maritime Rescue received notice that a body had been sighted two miles from Talamanca Bay, and sent one of its boats to pick it up.

(Photo: X @vozdeibiza)The human remains were moved to a dock at the Botafoc Ibiza marina, where a forensic doctor and the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard were in charge of removing the body, in an advanced state of decomposition.
Authorities have not linked the cases so far, nor have they anticipated whether the foot could belong to the person they found dead. For now they do not rule out any hypothesis and continue working to clarify the findings.
