How to reduce facial stress and recover skin balance

By Dr. María Fernanda Lasa (MN 82066) Dermatologist and Speaker of mesoestetic®

Periods of change in routine—travel, stress spikes, increased environmental exposure, or climate variations—usually have a direct impact on the skin. Although we often associate them with well-being or activity, at the skin level they can generate overload and imbalance.

Sun exposure, heat, pollution, sleep disturbances, a different diet and frequent trips can result in more sensitive, reddened, tight or reactive skin.

The skin responds to everything we experience. Stress—physical and emotional—activates inflammatory processes that alter the barrier function and unbalance the skin microbiota. Therefore, noticing “tired” skin is no coincidence. Recovering it requires more than just hydrating: it involves calming, rebalancing and accompanying your biological times.

Skin stress: signs to listen to

Persistent redness, burning, sensation of heat, itching or loss of luminosity are common manifestations of stress on the skin. In these cases, insisting on intense routines or aggressive active ingredients usually worsens the condition. The key is to simplify, reduce stimuli and prioritize restorative formulas.

Anti-stress routine: less impact, more repair

1. Conscious cleaning
Choose gentle cleansers, without aggressive sulfates or intense perfumes. Cleaning must remove impurities without altering the hydrolipidic layer or generating friction. Creamy textures or cleansing milks are usually the best allies for sensitized skin.

2. Soothing hydration
Stressed skin needs water, but also ingredients that reduce inflammation and restore comfort. Moisturizers should be applied with gentle movements, without intense massages.

3. Regenerative breaks
Incorporating a soothing mask twice a week helps reduce skin reactivity and promotes regeneration. This moment also works as a slowdown ritual: breathe deeply, release tension and allow the skin to recover.

4. Daily protection
Sun protection is essential even on cloudy or city days. Stressed skin is more vulnerable to radiation and oxidative damage.

Allied ingredients for skin in rest mode

  • Aloe vera: moisturizing, soothing and regenerating. Helps relieve burning and tightness.
  • Chamomile and calendula: anti-inflammatory and softening action, ideal for sensitive skin.
  • Marine extracts (microalgae): They act on inflammatory processes and help reduce redness and irritation.
  • Saffron flower: It helps to improve the skin’s response to stress and provides antioxidant action.
  • Postbiotics and ferments: They promote the balance of the skin microbiota and strengthen the barrier function.
  • Anti-pollution assets: They help remove contaminating particles and reduce oxidative stress that accelerates aging.

After overexposure: return to calm

After days of high environmental exposure—sun, heat, wind, pollution or even long hours indoors with air conditioning—the skin needs to reduce inflammation and regain comfort. Instead of stimulating, it’s time to repair: fresh textures, calming actives and simple routines.

Because taking care of your skin is not just about following a routine. It is also recognizing when you need a break, lowering the intensity and helping you regain your natural balance.

Recommended: Soothing intensive care

Anti-Stress Mask is an intensive mask for facial use developed to calm, rebalance and restore comfort to facial skin in contexts of skin stress.

It is part of the Sensitive Skin Solutions line and responds to a specific need: to offer effective care when the skin is sensitized or attacked by external factors or aesthetic procedures.

Its formula acts on the inflammatory processes that are activated in the facial skin, helping to reduce reactivity and restore skin balance. Combine extract of Rhodosorus marinusa red microalgae that acts on the triggers of the inflammatory process, with saffron flower extract, which helps reduce sensitivity and redness on the face.

The plant complex of aloe vera, chamomile and calendula provides a soothing, regenerating and softening action, ideal for relieving the sensation of facial heat and redness.
