44 years after the war, neighbors, ex-combatants and authorities participated in a day full of memory, recognition and reclaiming sovereignty.
The city of La Plata experienced a morning full of emotion within the framework of the Day of the Ex-combatant and of those who fell in the Malvinas Warwith a central event in the Plaza Islas Malvinas that brought together hundreds of neighbors, ex-combatants and institutional representatives.

44 years after the Malvinas War, the ceremony had its traditional protocol character, but was also crossed by gestures of collective memory and recognition of those who participated in the conflict.
Among the authorities present was Mayor Julio Alak, who accompanied the commemoration along with different local leaders. During the day, the Malvinas La Plata Ex-Combatants Center (CECIM) invited the community to bring a flower to the monument, in a symbolic gesture of tribute.

In addition to the official event, the proposal included cultural activities that reinforced the meaning of the date. Two artistic exhibitions were presented at the Malvinas Islands Cultural and Memory Center: “Just drawings that tell stories”, by the artist Néstor Kruzich, and the photographic record “La Plata en Malvinas”, focused on ex-combatants of the city.

In this way, the day combined memory, art and citizen participation, on a date that continues to challenge Argentine society from memory, identity and the claim to sovereignty.
