The union presented the claim to the Deliberative Council and seeks to eliminate the current two-rate scheme to unify the value of the service throughout the day.
He La Plata Taximeter Drivers Union Union He again demanded an update in the taxi service rate and presented to the Deliberative Council of La Plata a request for an increase close to 20%. In addition to the adjustment, the sector proposed modifying the current system to move towards a single rate throughout the day.
The initiative aims to eliminate the current Rate 1, which today has a flag drop of $1,250 and a token of $125. If the proposal is successful, Rate 2 would become the only current value, with a flag drop of $1,500 and a token of $150 for every 120 meters traveled.
From the union they explained that the service is close to a year behind inflation. In this context, they highlighted that during that period different basic costs increased, including food, electricity and gas.
The head of the union, Juan Carlos Berónconfirmed that the request was presented urgently before the councilors of The Silver.
They seek to simplify the collection system
One of the central arguments of the claim is not limited to the economic aspect. From the sector they maintain that the coexistence between two fares generates confusion for both drivers and passengers when calculating trips.
For this reason, they consider that moving towards a single value would simplify the charging system and give greater clarity to the operation of the service in the city.
For now, the proposal remained in the hands of the Deliberative Council, which must evaluate whether or not to advance with the tariff modification requested by taxi drivers.
