Last performances of “Far from Moscow”: the farewell of a contemporary classic at the Cooperation Cultural Center

There are two opportunities left to immerse yourself in Chekhov’s universe with an Argentine and contemporary perspective. “Far from Moscow” the version that the playwright Liliana Escliar performed on the classic “The three sisters” by Anton Chekhov, will have its last performances on Sundays, February 15 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Solidarity Room of the Cooperation Cultural Center (Av. Corrientes 1543, CABA).

Under the direction of the prestigious Helena Tritek —one of the most respected directors on the national scene, trained with Hedy Crilla and Lee Strasberg —, the work proposes a deep reflection on dreams, the passage of time and the need to reinvent oneself, in a context of profound relevance.

«Chekhov has a look at women who, with the passage of time, has shown themselves to be advanced. They have lovers and there is no censorship look at them; he has a broad look at how girls change as they lose hope,» Tritek highlighted in a recent interview. . The director, who had already directed “The Cherry Orchard” at the Teatro San Martín, returns to Chekhov with a version accessible to the general public. «Liliana got an original version that makes it more current. We respect the core, that is, we respect Chekhov, which takes place in Japan, in New York and in Buenos Aires. What does it have? It talks about the family, the man, his dreams» .

The work tells the story of three sisters – Olga, Masha and Irina – who, after the death of their military father, are stranded in a provincial capital of 19th century Russia. Raised in Moscow and now in the countryside, they dream of returning to the big city, convinced that they will find happiness there. But the passing of the days undermines their desires and, year after year, takes away their hope until it is reduced to its minimum expression. .

A luxury cast and a director who knows how to ask like an orchestra conductor
