Last test of the fastest bullet train in the world: it reaches 453 km/h

The fastest bullet train in the worldthe CR450, manufactured by China, has begun a series of tests prior to entering service, reaching a speed of 453 kilometers per hour.

The CR450 series, designed for a maximum test speed of 450 kilometers per hour and a commercial service speed of 400 kilometers per hour, is undergoing qualification tests on the high-speed railway line linking the eastern city of Shanghai with Chengdu, capital of the southwestern province of Sichuan, according to the Science and Technology Daily.

The train can go from zero to 350 kilometers per hour in just 4 minutes and 40 secondsand two of the trains on test set a record by passing each other at a combined speed of 896 kilometers per hour.

Compared to its predecessor, the CR400, the CR450 features a longer, more profiled nose, a 20 centimeters lower roofline, and a weight reduction of 50 tonnes, features that reduce aerodynamic drag by 22 percent.

The CR400 Fuxing high-speed trains currently in service operate at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The CR450 has to complete 600,000 kilometers without problems before being certified to carry passengers.
