A woman spent $600 in an attempt to banish her double chin, but the treatment left her looking an «old chicken.»
Jayne Bowman wanted to do something to improve the appearance of her chin after losing pounds and when she discovered that a simple procedure could solve the problem, she decided to try, but said she would not have gone under the knife until she was convinced that the non-surgical procedure was the answer to her problem.
The 62-year-old from Hampshire, England, had surgery in 2022 and was out of work for a long time due to her operation, and warned people how dangerous the treatment can be that left her like a “recluse” with a neck that looked like an “old chicken”, informa Science Alert.

She paid $600 for a fibroblast plasma treatment that works to tighten the skin, but the treatment left her hundreds of huge red scars unpleasant looking.
It was a big surprise for Jayne when she found the therapist on social media: «I wish my neck was still down, it was better than what you left me with.»
His neck was ruined
The woman added: «This failed beauty treatment has left me in agony. It was very painful, it burned like hell. I told the therapist I was in agony but she didn’t seem bothered. She told me I had to continue or it wouldn’t work,» she says. Science Alert.
After the treatment, Jayne covered her neck with cream to try to relieve the burning, but her chest, neck and face were covered in unattractive red dots.
Because of this, she called her therapist immediately and was offered «light therapy» and «microneedling,» but nothing seemed to alleviate the scars.
Furious, Jayne demanded the therapist’s insurance details, but was allegedly tricked and told, «I’m sorry, I can’t remember them,» she says. Science Alert.

“I don’t want to go out anymore,” Jayne said. «I’m a recluse because I don’t want people to see my horrible scars. They look so ugly. I’m so angry. This has affected my life in so many ways. I wish I hadn’t left my double chin alone.»
Express operations
Non-surgical procedures are said to have really taken off in Britain in recent years, as people have been offered «nose jobs during lunch» and “no-downtime tummy tucks,” which have helped attract clients.
But there are so many unregistered beauticians performing lasers, fillers and Botox that such complaints are not so rare, reports Science Alert.

A new law is set to make it illegal to inject fillers and Botox without a licence, but experts say in the meantime the government must ensure existing legislation is enforced.
In the last six years, we have received nearly 8,000 complaints but, despite this, only one complaint has led to a criminal conviction against the practitioner.
