This Sunday, the center of La Plata will have important traffic restrictions due to the traditional Marathon of the National University of La Plata (UNLP), an event that brings together thousands of runners and requires the implementation of an extensive road safety operation.
The operation will begin at 8:40, will include fencing and control agents, and will last until 11 to guarantee the security of the event.
The operation will include the placement of fences and the presence of traffic officers at numerous key intersections in the center of La Plata, with the aim of ordering circulation and avoiding incidents with runners. This type of event generates a strong impact on vehicular traffic and public transportation, with delays and detours on several lines.
In previous editions, the cuts were concentrated in streets, avenues and strategic diagonals, which forced circulation to be modified in a large part of the urban area for several hours.

The Commune recommended that residents avoid driving through the center during event hours and opt for alternative routes. They also asked to respect the signage and instructions of the urban control personnel, who will be deployed in different parts of the city.
The UNLP Marathon is one of the most important sporting activities in the region, with routes that cross central areas and attract both professional and amateur athletes. As every year, a large participation is expected, which implies a strong impact on vehicular circulation.
