Girner’a woman of North CarolinaUnited States, faces a legal lawsuit after rescuing a dog that was abandoned in front of her house during a snowstorm.
It all started on Saturday January 31 in the city of Wilson, when Garner was checking his doorbell security camera, and there he saw the moment when a woman left a female labradoodle on the porch of a house.
As a veterinary technician and dog groomer, Garner took the dog home and then reported the incident to Control Animalwho asked him to take the animal to start an investigation.

However, as Garner told the media Ural News, the dog was deteriorated due to the extreme low temperatures and, due to his state of health, «he did not have a chance – to survive – in a shelter.»
In less than 24 hours, Garner found the dog’s ownerwho had been missing for two months. Wilson County Sheriff’s Office He identified the woman in the video as Ashley Baker and reported her for abandoning an animal.
Garner’s reaction: between pain and surprise
Garner was shocked to learn that she was also reported to the police for having a stray animal, not surrendering it and interfering with law enforcement after she rescued the dog.
«This situation completely destroyed me. I was just trying to help a dog who was suffering, cold and needed help. I acted out of compassion, instinct and love towards an animal that could not care for itself. Now, being wrongfully convicted for doing what I believed was right caused me deep emotional pain that I still carry with me today,» wrote Garner, who is the mother of a two-year-old child.
She said that «being punished for trying to protect a vulnerable dog» left her «devastated, confused and betrayed for a system that is supposed to value life and kindness.» «It hurts me deeply to be called a criminal for choosing empathy over indifference,» he added.

To face the legal charges, Garner turned to the site Go Fund Mewhere he started a donation campaign. «As a mother, my top priority is the stability and well-being of my child. The thought of losing everything because I tried to do the right thing scares me.. «I am doing everything I can to protect our future, but the legal costs are more than I can bear alone,» she wrote.
Garner must appear in court at the end of February. For his part, the owner of the dog indicated to Ural News that he is «very grateful» that Garner saved his pet.
