History of the Provincial Vine Flower Festival
The Provincial Vine Flower Festival was an initiative of Camilo Aldao, who imagined an event that will celebrate the beginning of the vine cycle; For this he was inspired by the Flower Festival, which since 1950 has been held in Bourdeaux (France) as a spring festival.
It was developed for the first time in San Rafael in 2014, at Finca Los Álamos, and then began to rotate through different wineries in the department.
Over the years it became more complex until it became a celebration that brings together the flavors, aromas and wines of the region with first-class music, in an unforgettable night where the winery that acts as host receives a distinguished audience that loves Mendoza’s wine culture.
The event has been declared of Cultural and Tourist Interest by the Government of Mendoza, the provincial Legislature and the Municipality.
In May 2019, by Law No. 9,158, the festival was granted provincial status, and in March 2021 the Bill was approved by which article 2 of that law was modified and the celebration was designated as the official opening activity of the provincial grape harvest calendar.
