Dominican Republic demonstrated once again why he is the most complete tourist destination in the Caribbean by bringing together more than 1,550 tourism professionals in the South American edition of “Meet in Paradise«, held at the La Rural Convention Center. The event coincided with a historical milestone: the Caribbean country received more than a million South American visitors in the first nine months of the year, consolidating a 26% growth interannual.

The event, which brought together travel agents, tour operators, media and opinion leaders from Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and Uruguaycombined interactive training, thematic panels and cultural experiences that reflected the values ​​of the country brand: authenticity, joy, hospitality and diversity.

South America: the fastest growing market

The numbers presented during the event confirm that South America consolidates as the first growing source market for tourists to the Dominican Republic and the second most important worldwide. Data from the Ministry of Tourism reveals the impressive performance by country:

  • Argentina: 339,871 visitors (33% of the South American total, 76% growth)
  • Colombia: 274,287 tourists (17% year-on-year increase)
  • Chile: 116,443 visitors (growth in 1%)
  • Brazil: 98,939 arrivals (16% more than in 2024)
  • Peru: 88,054 tourists (impressive 43% growth)

David ColladoMinister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, highlighted during his presentation: “Our heart is here, in South America. “We are expanding our direct routes to be closer to you and opening new destinations so that more travelers discover that in the Dominican Republic we have it all.”

An immersive Caribbean experience

“Meet in Paradise” offered attendees a authentic immersion in Dominican culture through activations that included dance classes merengue and bachatatasting dominican rum and art and coffee experiences. A immersive dome transported participants directly to the Caribbean heat, recreating the landscapes and emotions that define the country.

The academic program included high-level panels such as the conversation “Tourism, leadership and inspiration” with ex-footballers Maxi Rodríguez and Sergio Goycocheaicons of the Argentine national team.
