Who behind the figure of the count Edoardo “Edo” Mapelli Mozzi? A recent investigation increased doubts about the true fortune of the princess’s husband Beatrice of York and he hinted that both are figures that the British royalty wants away today.
So that there are no doubts about the family tree, it must be clarified that: Beatriz is the daughter of prince andrew y Sarah Ferguson and Edo, from the count Alessandro “Alex” Mapelli Mozzia former British skier and Olympian, and Nikki Burrows.
Everything would be clearer if Netflix made a spin off of The Crown about its story, but that would be asking too much: Edo and Beatriz are minor gigs in the Royal story. That does not mean that in recent weeks the press raised their profile because there were rumors of distancing and because they were indirectly affected by the Jeffrey Epstein scandal after Andrés’ arrest.

Who is Count Edo
Although he has noble Italian ancestry, Edoardo “Edo” Mapelli Mozzi was born in the United Kingdom. He studied at the Dragon School and then at the University of Edinburgh. His father, Alex, was said to be a millionaire count and to live in the family’s 17th-century mansion called Villa Mapelli Mozzi in Lombardy.
At the age of 23, Edoardo founded the high-end real estate firm Bandawith which he built a career and made it grow after his wedding to Beatriz, in 2020, to the point of turning it into a “multidisciplinary” company.
Before dating the princess, whom he had known since he was a child because of the closeness of their families, he was a partner of the architect. Dara Huangwith whom he has a son in common. Added to this are the two girls he had with Beatriz, Sienna y Athena.
A speech questioned
The Daily Mail maintains – after collecting testimonies and official papers – that the family home is in ruins and it no longer has the real estate value it used to.
Darío, Alex’s cousin, confirmed that Edo he would never keep the housesince he has no participation in it and is not a legitimate heir. The same goes for his father. Italian property records contemplate that that part of the family can only keep a small garden.
«A few years ago, when Edo was on vacation in Tuscany, there was talk that he would come to stay, but he never came. He’s certainly never been here to see the house. I don’t even think he speaks Italian.”, revealed Darío, 76 years old.
Alex, 74 years old, does not live in a century-old mansion, as was believed. The Daily Mail was able to discover that he lives with his partner in a modest house in the south of France, and that he lives off the rent he charges for his “small holiday homes.” It is believed that his son never appears and that he does not know Beatriz.
The suspicion of apparent estrangement between Edo and his biological father arose from Edo always referring to his stepfather as his real father. This was Christopher ShaleNikki’s ex-husband, who died aged 56 while in a port-a-potty at the Glastonbury Festival in 2011.
Edo inherited a sum of nearly £650,000 from his stepfather, and when he died he said: «He (Chris Shale) was a father to me, the only father I have ever known».
To all this we must add that neither Alex nor Edo is a count per se. The titles attributed to them are symbolic.
Finally, it was learned that the house where he lives with Beatriz, in the Cotswolds, he was able to acquire thanks to a mortgage from a private bank, like anyone else.
