Did you know that the full name of Billie Earth Is Billie Eilish Actually Pirate Baird O’Connell? EITHER Pablo Picasso, who we should actually call Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso.

Both are surprisingly long, but sound like nicknames when compared to New Zealander Laurence Watkins.

In March 1990, Laurence (born in New Zealand) became famous by changing his legal name to include more than 2000 middle names. This earned him the Guinness World Records title for longest personal name, with a total of 2,253 unique words.

In statements to GWRexplained: «I was always fascinated by the unusual and quirky records that some people were chasing, and I really wanted to be part of that scene. I read the Guinness Book of World Records cover to cover to see if there were any records I could break, and the only one I had a chance of breaking was to add more names than the current one.»

It was a long process, not helped by the fact that computers were much less common than today, and finally paid a few hundred dollars for someone to write down the entire list of names for him.

His legal application was accepted by the District Court, but was subsequently rejected by the Registrar General. Laurence, like anyone with the drive to break records, did not give up and took his case to the High Court of New Zealand, which He finally agreed with her.

Nobody can do it anymore

But shortly afterward they changed two laws to prevent others from doing something similar.

The record was originally awarded to 2,310 names, but was later updated to 2,253 after a change in registration guidelines.

Laurence worked in the municipal library at that time and chose names from books and recommendations from colleagues. «My favorite name is AZ2000, which means I have names from A to Z and I have 2000 names.»

He says people often don’t understand him when he tells them how many names he has. The main problem it has caused him is with government departments, since, as expected, They cannot include their full name on any identification document.
