A recent domestic incident in North Carolina, USA occurred on October 13, served as a public warning about the dangers posed by lithium-ion batteries if they are not stored correctly.
The protagonist of this unwanted event was Colton, a dog five years old, who unintentionally demonstrated the risk of these elements by causing a fire in the living room of his house in Chapel Hill.
The sequence, captured by a security camera installed in the home, shows the exact moment in which Colton chewed on the drums.

By breaking the protective casing of the element—which, according to the Chapel Hill Fire Departmentwas not stored safely—the battery began to emit a large amount of smoke and quickly caught fire on the carpet.
Fortunately, the outcome of the incident was minor, considering the potential severity of a house fire. No one, including Colton, was injured..
The fire extinguished itself and property damage was limited to a ruined carpet and some smoke damageleaving the house, in general, in good condition.
