Violista left the scores for balance sheets and taxes

Romina Oviedo Pérez, is a native of Caballito, is 48 years old and a mother of three children. He shone as a viola player in orchestras, such as the Teatro Colón, and shared stages with stars: Plácido Domingo, José Carreras and Martha Argerich, among others. In 2023, he decided to (momentarily) archive his artistic career and travel to the United States to dedicate himself to his accounting and tax venture. lThe American Bar Association (ABA) has just been incorporated as a member of the distinguished institution.

Romina Oviedo Pérez had a comfortable and structured life in CABA. Since she played the viola in important concerts, assisted her clients in accounting and legal matters, was pursuing a master’s degree in business administration and enjoyed family rituals and outings with friends.

However, an inner voice told him that his place in the world was far from the Obelisk. Echoing her, three years ago, the 48-year-old Sagittarian sold her car, packed her suitcases and took a flight that transported her, along with her husband and three children, to the Miami international airport, and then settled in the Orlando area, in the United States.

Violista left the scores for balance sheets and taxes

From there, using a rental car, full of adrenaline, happiness and uncertainty, Romina headed to one of the properties she had rented in the exclusive area of central Florida. “We emigrated without knowing absolutely anyone in the place we were going, we only had the five of us and that made us grow and unite much more, both individually and as a family,” recognize.

The companion of infinite trips was not in the suitcases: the viola. Fundamentally, because he had taken a momentary artistic break. «Since I left the country I have not played professionally or as an amateur again. The instrument was stored in Argentina»he states wistfully, admitting that “I would like to play again, but not professionally, but for pleasure.”

The decision had to do with the beginning of a new professional stage, focused on personalized accounting and tax service. “One of the most challenging, so far in my personal life, not only because of everything that it entails to live and start professionally in another country from scratch, but also because of the professional adaptation to the new rules of the nation and the market”says Romina.

At first, it did so from a franchise acquired in the United States, some time before settling in that country. But his ultimate idea was to create the company he had in mind. With courage and daring, the Argentine founded OPC TAXES, a firm specialized in tax and accounting solutions, both for people and companies.

It was not an easy task to kick off. “It was very difficult to get started. Because we were new to the USA and, being a nation where credit and trust are built over time, they asked us for exorbitant sums to rent an office and up to an entire year of advances.”recalls the CEO, commenting on details of her services.

«We help Argentines and Latin Americans who wish to invest or settle in any of the states to comply with all tax obligations in a safe and highly personalized manner. Simultaneously, I advise professionals, entrepreneurs, software developers and managers of multinationals»he remarks with satisfaction.

As an accountant and lawyer, with a master’s degree in business and a specialization in tax from the United States, she soon managed to carve out a place for herself in the competitive world of work. “The key is that I continue studying and expanding my knowledge to grow more in my field and provide better advice and service to my clients,” says who is about to obtain a master’s degree in Law at the University of Dayton, in Ohio.

So much dedication, effort and permanent training has its rewards. Because the American Bar Association (ABA), an institution that is similar to the bar association in the USA, has just joined as a member. “It gives me the opportunity to participate in various committees with different topics.”reveals the professional who was already a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the main professional organization for lawyers in the largest nation in North America.

Romina Oviedo Pérez was born on Saturday, December 9, 1977 in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Caballito, steps from a green lung, Parque Rivadavia. But it migrated from neighborhood to neighborhood, within the city. Therefore, he attended primary school in various educational institutions. Although he obtained his high school diploma at the “Juan Ramon Fernández” Higher Education Institute in Living Languages. “I was always too studious or swallow”, the older sister of an electronic engineer admits, smiling.

It was the time when, in parallel, he was studying music at the National Conservatory. «In the afternoon, I studied piano and viola. I fell in love with this last instrument right away. To the point that I graduated when I was 20»points out the music that, almost immediately, entered the Chamber Orchestra of the National Congress through open and public competition. “of which he was viola soloist for more than 12 years.”

Due to her talent and ability to transmit emotions, the violist was a member of the Academic Youth Orchestra of the Teatro Colón (from 1999 to 2000, enabling a European musical tour through London and Germany). Later, he joined the Stable Orchestra of the Teatro Colón (from 2008 to 2013), as a contracted member. Which allowed him to make numerous national and international tours and play with global stars, such as the tenors Plácido Domingo and José Carreras, and the pianist Martha Argerich, among others.

Like her high school classmates, Romina wanted to have college degrees. To do this, he chose to study two careers at the same time: public accounting and law. “I chose to study at the UADE for a practical topic and because this university was a pioneer in the modality,” says the professional who after graduating completed a postgraduate degree at the UBA.

Thanks to music, Alejandro’s wife (clarinetist and software developer) and mother of three children (Lucía, 12; Santiago, 14, and Francisco, 17) was able to pay for her university studies, receive national scholarships (from the Antorchas Foundation) and international scholarships (from the Italian government, which allowed her to reside for a year in the peninsula, playing for Pope Benedict XVI, in the «Nervi Room» of the Vatican) and even buy a property. “For a long time, music was my main job”emphasizes the migrant who has not lost the mate ritual in the office.

Restless and multifaceted, Romina has just published her first book “Your company in the USA, manual for the foreign entrepreneur”. This is a practical guide to create, operate and scale your business in the United States without residing in the country.

«The US market is not complicated. It is logical. When you know the rules, everything becomes predictable,» The author assures that, using her international experience, she presents a clear and applicable method so that foreign investors can structure their business in the USA with legal, fiscal and operational coherence.

«Any entrepreneur can offer their products or services within a giant market, such as the United States, without having to establish themselves or migrate to that country. In short, they can run their company from their home or office, choosing the structure, knowing the rules of the game from the beginning and always being up to date with taxes and obligations,» the expert highlights.

The first edition, which can be purchased on Amazon, is published in Spanish for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs. «This is not a theoretical book. It is an implementation manual. It is designed for freelancers and consultants who want to charge in dollars and professionalize their image internationally; e-commerce and dropshipping owners; digital nomads who need a light and efficient structure, and entrepreneurs seeking investment or global expansion,» concludes Dr. Romina Oviedo Pérez, announcing that the publication will soon be in physical bookstores.
