Tracking the storm: This weekend’s forecast
The storm begins Friday afternoon with snow and ice in New Mexico. By the evening, Dallas will see a wintry mix and Oklahoma City will see some snow.
Saturday is the most significant days for dangerous icing and heavy snow for the South.
By Saturday morning, the wintry mix and freezing rain will be stretching from San Antonio to Dallas to Little Rock, Arkansas, to Memphis, Tennessee, to Shreveport, Louisiana, to Tupelo, Mississippi.
By Saturday evening, the snow and ice will stretch from New Mexico to the Carolinas.
Raleigh, North Carolina, and Atlanta are forecast to get a wintry mix or freezing rain.
Snow is possible in cities as far away as Albuquerque, New Mexico; St. Louis and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The storm will continue to move east, and by early Sunday morning, the snow will extend from Wichita, Kansas, to Cincinnati to Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia.
Freezing rain will be likely by sunrise in Houston, Memphis, Atlanta and Raleigh.

By noon, snow will reach New York City, while D.C. will warm up from snow to a wintry mix.
By 4 p.m. Sunday, snow will likely be falling from Louisville, Kentucky, to Chicago to New York City.

On Sunday evening, the Northeast corridor is expected to see rain or snow, while the interior Northeast and most of New England will see snow into early Monday.
