Each October 28 is celebrated on World Animation Daywith the aim of remember the first public screening of animated film.
The event was made in 1892 by French film pioneer Charles-Émile Reynaudat the Grévin Museum in Paris, France.
To remember this first public event and the development of animation as an art form, The International Animated Film Association (ASIFA) established this date as a day of celebration in 2003.
What was the first animated film screening like?
The first screening took place on October 28, 1892. That day, Charles-Émile Reynaud presented at the Optical Theatera sophisticated system of lenses and mirrors that allowed animated images to be projected on the screen synchronized with music and sound effects.

World Animation Day: how it is celebrated
The International Animated Film Association created this day to remember the first screening, but also to celebrate the artists and technicians who work behind each animated productionas scriptwriters, designers, animators and directors.
Besides, the association invites people to promote projects, workshops, conferences and exhibitions on this occasion.
On the other hand, it also commissioned a prominent animator to create the International Animation Day poster. Subsequently, this is adapted in each country to guarantee the global visibility of the event. This year’s poster was created by Lucija Mrzljak.
